Change the Weather, Season, and Time of Day

More often than not, photographers are photographing at the whim of a client, event, or wedding where we have no control over the logistics of the session. Boring skies instead of sunsets, sweltering summer heat when it should be crisp fall weather, or wishing for snow for the otherwise perfect wintery photoshoot.

Did you know we have Quest presets and tools to help you change those elements? You can edit and change the weather, time of day, and even the season using some of our Quest preset collections!

Change the Weather

Often, when you photograph a subject with the sun setting or rising in the background, either your subjects are totally underexposed or your sunset or sunrise is blown out with no detail. Get the best of both subject and sky by adding back in detail and color using Quest Tools 09 - Sunset Enhancer!

Quest Tools 09 - Sunset Enhancer can also add a sunset to a sky where there wasn’t one in reality!

Change the Season

Sometimes, your planned “snow day” photoshoot ends up being the perfect winter photoshoot… but without snow. And sometimes you just want to add snow to a photo you took in March, right?

That’s no problem to fix with Quest Tools 05 - Snowfall, the preset toolset that allows you to add SNOW to any image! It even has variations to subtract your subject from the falling snow, or add a layer of snow PLUS mist for extra wintery vibes!

The above image is the PERFECT city winter scene— made even better with added snow! ❄️

Tip: Use a cool-toned base preset in conjunction with Snowfall to add chill factor to your edits— the rainy spring image above turns into a winter scene with the cool tones of Quest 35 Nexus plus Snowfall!

Tired of waiting for the autumn leaves to change at the tail end of summer? Quest 30 Autumnal gives you instant fall foliage, changing the season from spring or summer to autumn in a few clicks!

Change the Time of Day

Sometimes, we can’t control the time of our photo sessions, or just miscalculate the timing of sunset or sunrise. You can take back control in the post-processing steps using the different time of day presets and tools in Quest 35 Nexus and the new Quest Tools 09 - Sunset Enhancer to add back in different elements of the sky at different times of the day!

The above image goes from a blue-hour photo to daylight, dusk, night, and dawn using base presets and tools from Quest 35 Nexus plus Sun and Burst from Quest 26 ZIA for the daylight edit and tools from Quest Tools 09 - Sunset Enhancer for the others.

Tip: To add a moon, use the Sun preset from Quest Tools 09 - Sunset Enhancer and remove the color in the Masking Panel!
