Tips for INDOOR Photos
Whether the weather outside moves your photoshoot indoors, or you want that intimate lifestyle vibe, indoor photo locations can be absolutely stunning! On the flip side, they can cause a headache with mixed lighting, color casts, or not enough light. These tips can make your next indoor photoshoot easier to capture-- AND EDIT with your Quest presets!
Unless you're going for a cinematic look, get rid of that mixed lighting! If your main light source is a window (cool, natural light)-- turn off overhead lights, lamps, etc, which typically are warm light and can cause chaos in your editing. This will save you time when you edit and your colors and skin tones will be more consistent! Of course, this is subjective, and plenty of photographers use mixed light to their advantage to create mood.

If your indoor location has a lot of discordant colors going on, use a stylistic edit to even out those tones. A warm and earthy preset can subdue the colors that look jarring, evening out the tones, and adding gold and copper hues that bring out the cozy feel of some indoor spaces. If you want to go the extra mile, move distracting colors, objects, and textures out of frame to focus on a statement piece of furniture or minimalistic space to really focus on your subject!

Get creative and play with unconventional compositions and lighting. The direct sunlight that can be so challenging outside can make a huge impact indoors! Take advantage of slivers of window light, even if that means posing your subjects in places they might not "hang out" naturally-- like the floor, an odd corner of a kitchen, or their bathroom. Chase the light and play with shadows to create unique images!
