3 Ways to Add More Variety to your Next Photo Session
Photographers are always searching for new poses, new ways to add more variety to photo sessions for their clients. “Variety is the spice of life”, after all.
Sometimes the BEST way to add “more” is quite simple! Try these 3 tips to add more variety to your next photo session!
Tip #1: Let your subjects relax into a pose until it becomes natural and candid
Start with an easy pose and allow your subjects to talk to each other, make each other laugh, and for couples, get cuddly and cozy. This allows you to capture all those “in-between” moments that take your photos from prompted to authentic!

Tip #2: Capture the little details
Adding close-up detail photos of hands, feet, items of clothing, or interesting features add to the story you’re telling through images! Have your subjects interact with each other or objects like flowers or buttons on clothing, and focus on that connection.
Tip #3: Include pullbacks that give more context to the location or surroundings
You spent all that time planning the location, the perfect time of day, the right season… so show it off! Allow space around your subjects to give context to where they are and how they are interacting with their environment!
You can step back just a little or quite a lot to add more variety to your framing.
